STEM @

SADDLE ROCK

Did you know that most people spend over 95% of their time interacting with technology?  Pencils, chairs, toothbrushes, cell phones, and buildings are all technologies – solutions designed by engineers to fulfill human needs and wants.  To understand the world we live in, it is crucial that we foster engineering and technology literacy among our children.   Fortunately, children are natural born engineers.  They are imaginative… they love to build, investigate, take stuff apart, and see how things work.

Students at Saddle Rock will be putting their problem solving skills to the test as they design and construct solutions to STEM challenges.

What does STEM stand for?

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

To help encourage their natural engineering skills and promote future thinkers, we are excited to introduce you to our new Saddle Rock STEM Lab.  This program / lab will allow our kids to engage in the natural design process and facilitate STEM learning.

We have a great year of STEM activites planned for our students:

Kindergarteners will be designing and constructing buildings.

First graders will be doing some design and construction using a variety of materials from their mystery bags.

Second graders will be extending their communities unit by designing and building a house structure.

Third graders will be exploring simple machines by construcinting models and programming them using the Lego WeDo kits.

Fourth graders will be designing and building picture frames.

Fifth graders will be building and programing Lego Robots.
